Trading Crowds for Canyons: An Unexpected Morning in Canyonlands

Crowds at Delicate Arch sent us on an early morning detour to Canyonlands National Park. In soft orange light we wandered the Island in the Sky district, gazed over Buck Canyon and Green River, and stared down the sheer switchbacks of Shafer Trail. A surprise switch of plans became pure desert magic.
